Instructional League
Our Rookies division is a non-competitive league intended for youngsters in their third year of playing baseball (7 and 8 years old). Older players (9-years-old) who are not prepared for the Minors division are admitted based on their coaches’ evaluations and the League Commissioner.
Since our Rookies Division is at the Instructional League level, emphasis is placed on skill development and knowledge of the game. No score or standings are kept, and there are no playoffs. Coaches are very involved on the field during games for these leagues. The League league begins with coach-pitch and introduces player-pitch fundamentals throughout the season.
The games are played on a 60-foot diamond and pitching is primarily done by the coaches, with a gradual progression to player-pitch. This league features an All-Star Game during the TYA Softball/Baseball All Star Day event.
