COVID-19 Protocols

There are a host of questions that parents and players are asking about how the Towamencin Soccer Club will help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 amongst our players.  Practices and games may look different this season, but we are confident that even with these “return to play” protocols, our players will have a fun learning environment.

We will follow these rules in accordance with Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (our governing body) and our Insurance provider. This is a lengthy document, but PLEASE READ so you can understand all the steps we are taking to keep your children safe and healthy.

  • A COVID-19 Kit containing hand sanitizer, disinfectant, gloves, masks, and tissues will be provided to each team.
  • Coaches will be required to have their health monitored at home. Temperatures exceeding the guidelines of 100.2 degrees will not be permitted to attend practices or games and will need to follow CDC guidelines for evaluation.
  • Players will be required to have their health monitored at home. The parent/guardian will be required to take the child’s temperature as well as evaluate their health prior to coming on site. Players with a temperature exceeding the guidelines of 100.2 degrees will not be permitted to attend practices or games and will need to follow CDC guidelines for evaluation.
  • A Heath Check sheet will be distributed to all teams to help maintain a good health standard.
  • All player drop-offs will be a no-contact drop-off for games and practices. Parents and players will be required to wear masks from their cars to the field. All attendees other than players and referees will be required to wear a mask at the field.  We ask that any communication with the coach be made via email, telephone or note to keep the on-field gatherings at an absolute minimum. Parents will not be permitted near the area where our staff and players will be. After games and practices, all players, coaches and referees will be required to wear masks from the field to their cars. After game practices and gatherings will be kept to an absolute minimum.
  • Each team will have a designated team area. Each team will have a separate location to keep each group distanced from other teams. This location will serve as an area to store player’s belongings, water, etc. Each player will have a marked-out area called “Homebase” for their belongings and to take a break at. There will be absolutely no sharing of any personal items such as water bottles, phones, food, balls cleats etc.
  • Practice and games are a place where children can form bonds and friendships with other players as well as their coaches. This does not always translate to players within the group staying 6’ apart. Coaches will do their best to keep players apart as much as possible.
  • All attendees will maintain a social distance from each other.
  • Equipment will be sprayed and wiped with disinfectant by the coach between each session.
  • We will not require our players to wear masks during their participation in practices and games. Coaches who demonstrate, participate in practices sessions or referee games/scrimmages will not be required to wear masks. Players are required to wear masks during breaks on the sidelines and coaches will be required to wear masks on the sidelines.

NOTE: These guidelines are part of an evolving plan. As information and changes are made available, we will adjust our policies and procedures as needed, and implement these new procedures. We will do our best to keep everyone safe. We also know that there will still be exposure as nothing is 100% full proof even with the best laid plans. However, we believe with the steps we are taking that the risk will be minimized considerably.

All Hygiene protocols are in effect unless otherwise noted:

  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Have hand sanitizer available for all players at all times.
  • No sharing of water, snacks or equipment.
  • No shaking hands, high fives, fist bump, hugs, etc. with other players.
  • No shaking hands after a game, scrimmage or practice. We suggest "team claps" after the session is over.
  • No player or coach can attend if they are feeling sick.
  • Sick players or coaches must quarantine themselves as required by the CDC/PA Dept. of Health. Players can only return with a Doctor’s approval. They must show notice to the club.
  • Disinfect all training equipment- cones, goals, flags, balls etc.  Only coaches can touch or move equipment.
  • Coaches are required to wear a face mask as per CDC/PA Dept. of Health.
  • Players are to wear face masks when not involved in soccer activities or on the bench.  Players may wear masks during activity at their parents or their own discretion.
  • Only one coach may attend to an injured player. He or she must wear a mask and gloves.
  • Minimize contact with other teams before, during and after each session.

Thank you for your understanding and support during these trying times. Our hope is to return to play safely for the optimal benefit and health of our children and families.
